I think a lot of killers are also master manipulators. They get off by deceiving you. There have even been a few killers who I dont think were the real killers. They craved the attention and fame that came along with the label. My 2 cents
Great point. You certainly see in cases like where you can't trust their body count. Henry Lee Lucas confessed to hundreds of murders, including some that were impossible for him to commit. Dennis Rader made a false admission before he was caught. Who knows what's what with Zodaic.
I’ve come to the conclusion that most of the serial killers are motivated ultimately by a desire to kill. The rest of it is their excuse and justification. There’s no why that would make sense to the rest of us.
It’s not as if he would have testified, so we wouldn’t have learned the truth even if there’d been a trial (think Delphi).

That's another great point. In the rare cases you get an honest answer, I doubt it would make sense to most people.
